Getting Started

What is ID Intelligence?

ID Intelligence is a native iOS app that aggregates news and articles from the leading publications in identity management, border security, biometrics, and secure documents into a single, topic-filtered feed. It is developed and maintained by SECOIA Executive Consultants AG, Switzerland.

Which devices are supported?

ID Intelligence runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later. An Android version is not planned at this time.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required. The app works without registration. If you enable iCloud Sync, your settings and bookmarks are stored in your personal iCloud account — not on our servers.

How do I join the Beta / TestFlight?

Apply via the waitlist form at id-intelligence.app. Accepted applicants receive a TestFlight invitation directly from Apple. You will need the TestFlight app installed on your device — it is free on the App Store.

Is the app free?

The Free tier gives you access to SECOIA news plus up to two additional sources of your choice at no cost. A Pro subscription (CHF 19.90/year or CHF 2.90/month) unlocks all five sources simultaneously, unlimited custom topics and filters, and iCloud Sync.

Sources & Content

Which publications are included?

The app aggregates content from Biometric Update, Keesing Platform, ID Tech Wire, Identity Week, and SECOIA Executive Consultants. All five sources are available to Pro subscribers. Free users may activate SECOIA plus any two of the remaining four.

Why can I only activate two sources on the Free tier?

The Free tier includes SECOIA content plus a maximum of two non-SECOIA sources active at the same time. You can switch which sources are enabled at any time, but only two can run simultaneously. Upgrade to Pro to unlock all five sources at once.

How often is the feed refreshed?

The app refreshes content in the background automatically. You can also trigger a manual refresh by pulling down on the feed or tapping the refresh icon at the top of the screen.

Can I add my own sources?

Custom RSS sources are not supported in the current version. The five integrated publishers have been selected for their editorial quality and direct relevance to the identity and secure documents sector.

Topics & Filtering

How do topics work?

Topics are keyword sets that filter your feed. When a topic is active, only articles matching its keywords are shown. The app includes 11 predefined topics covering areas such as ePassport / eID, Border Security, Biometrics, Standards, Privacy & Legislation, and more.

Can I create custom topics?

Yes — Pro subscribers can create unlimited custom topics with their own keywords. Free users have access to the 11 predefined topics only.

How do I exclude topics I don't want to see?

In the Topics settings, you can disable individual topics. Articles matching a disabled topic will not appear in your feed. You can also set date range filters to narrow down what is shown.

Bookmarks & Offline

How do bookmarks work?

Tap the bookmark icon on any article to save it. Bookmarked articles are stored on your device and always accessible from the Bookmarks tab — even without an internet connection.

Are bookmarked articles available offline?

Yes. Article content is cached locally when you bookmark it. You can read bookmarked articles without an active internet connection.

Can I share articles?

Yes. Swipe left on any article in the feed to reveal the Share button, which opens the standard iOS share sheet. You can share the article link to any app or contact on your device.

iCloud Sync

What does iCloud Sync do?

When enabled, iCloud Sync keeps your bookmarks, reading history, topic settings, and source configuration in sync across all your Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID. This feature requires a Pro subscription.

Why isn't my content syncing across devices?

Check that iCloud is enabled for ID Intelligence under Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud on your device. Also make sure both devices have an active internet connection. You can trigger a manual sync from the iCloud Sync screen within the app.

What is Full Resync?

Full Resync merges reading history and bookmarks from both the device and iCloud, then replaces topic filters and settings with the iCloud version. It also refreshes the article list from all active sources. Use this if your data appears out of sync between devices. An active internet connection is required.

Pro Subscription

What's included in Pro?

Pro unlocks all five news sources simultaneously, unlimited custom topics and filters, and iCloud Sync across all your Apple devices.

How much does Pro cost?

Pro is available for CHF 19.90 per year or CHF 2.90 per month. Pricing in other currencies may vary slightly based on Apple's regional App Store pricing.

What happens if my Pro subscription lapses?

If your subscription expires, sources beyond the Free tier limit (SECOIA + 2) are automatically deactivated. Your bookmarks and reading history are fully retained. Reactivating Pro immediately restores access to all previously configured sources.

Privacy & Data

What data does the app collect?

The app does not collect personal data. Article link clicks are logged anonymously (publisher, URL, timestamp, and a one-way hash of your IP address) for internal reporting only. iCloud data is stored in your personal Apple account and is not accessible to us. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Are articles tracked when I open them?

Article links are routed through a redirect endpoint (id-intelligence.app/out/) which records the publisher and destination URL for internal click statistics. This data is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Where is my data stored?

App preferences, bookmarks, and reading history are stored locally on your device. If iCloud Sync is enabled, this data is also stored in your personal iCloud account. No personal data is stored on SECOIA servers.

Troubleshooting

The feed isn't showing new articles

Pull down on the feed to trigger a manual refresh. If the problem persists, check your internet connection. If a source shows no articles after being enabled for the first time, the initial fetch may still be in progress — wait a moment, then force-close and reopen the app.

My bookmarks or read status disappeared after re-enabling a source Known issue

This is a known issue currently under investigation. If bookmarks or read status appear missing after re-enabling a previously disabled source, performing a Full Resync from the iCloud Sync settings screen should restore them.

iCloud Sync isn't working on my Mac Known issue

Running ID Intelligence in "Designed for iPad" mode on macOS may affect iCloud Sync functionality. This is a known issue currently under investigation. A native Mac version is not available in the current release.
